Jan. 19, 2005 HI ALL! Well winter has finally arrived with a vengeance! Not that it will stop anything we do. There is nothing more warming to the heart and soul than hanging out with friends and listening to good music over a nice relaxing beverage or two or three...
Last week the PLASTIC HEROES returned to NYC for 5 kick-ass shows, all of which were rocking. They started at STEVE BLUSH's RÖCK CÄNDY at DON HILL's with MAD JUANA, and on Thurs. they both took the show over to TRASH in Brooklyn, bringing the LOVE PIRATES along with them. BROTHER EARTH was also on that bill and they had everyone talking. You'll be hearing a lot more about these guys in the future. On Friday it was back to Manhattan and CONTINENTAL with the NEW PROFESSIONALS. KAREN CURIOUS always has her band in top form despite the changing line-ups. Finally on Saturday the PLASTIC HEROES did 2 shows. They were part of TISWAS at DON HILL's and then closed out the night at the PUSSYCAT LOUNGE. That show featured LACH & the SECRETS (featuring BILLY FICA from TELEVISION on drums), THE BLACKWATER EXPERIMENT and SEA MONSTER (ARTHUR brought along the chicken). In all a very successful NYC tour. Sunday night THE UNPRONOUNCEABLE brought out some SONY record execs who were most pleasantly surprised by the surrounding talent that passes for a normal Sunday night at OTTO's. Too bad they didn't get there earlier to catch LITTLE LULU (JOHN LAW from BANANA FISH ZERO's 6-year-old daughter in her second appearance at OTTO's. She captured everyone's heart. This is always the BEST night of the week. If you haven't been to WIND DOWN SUNDAY (where you wind down from a rough weekend and prepare for another week in hell) you owe it to yourself to check out the BEST night of music in NYC. This Sunday THE UNPRONOUNCEABLE and ANIMALLINK will continue their Jan. residency. Come on down and check them out. Sunday night brings NO MORE DOLLS from MILAN ITALY to OTTO's to join F.P.TOZ, THE UNPRONOUNCEABLE, ANIMALLINK and others. These guys are one of the hottest acts in ITALY right now.Speaking of the tsunami relief my good friend AL OTTO will be holding a show to raise money for it on Sat. Jan. 22 at ROCKY's BAR in Williamsburg with a bunch of great bands. Hopefully you'll come out and help this very good cause. On Weds.1/26/05. PAT VAN DYKE and his band will be doing their monthly last Weds. of jazz/funk/rock with 3 of their friends' bands at the PUSSYCAT LOUNGE. This is a relaxing night of great music. On Thurs. 1/27/05 BOB DUNCAN makes his return to the FWp. stage and his 1st Brooklyn appearance after a brief hiatus. A trip to London and APPLE Studios rekindled his fire and their are some new songs to go along with the old favorites. Wow it's almost VALENTINE's Day again and that means it's time for the 12th Annual GOD's LOVE WE DELIVER Benefit. As you know I usually run a raffle of everything from bar tabs, dinners for two, artwork etc... If you would like to donate something to the raffle, please let me know and I will come by and collect it. This is a very worthy charity and I would hate to see it overshadowed by the tsunami relief efforts. Not that I have anything against the tsunami relief but people tend to forget that there are other charities out there that still need help. Oh well here's some things to keep you happy for awhile: THURSDAY, January 20 FRIDAY, January 21 SATURDAY, January 22 SATURDAY, January 22 SUNDAY, January 23 WEDNESDAY, January 26 THURSDAY, January 27 FRIDAY, January 28 SUNDAY, January 30 Hopefully I'll see ya soon. Take care, FRANK WOOD "Then HE commended mirth, because a man hath no better thing
under the sun, than to eat, and to drink, and to be merry: for that shall
abide with him of his labor the days of his life, which GOD giveth him
under the sun." "We're on a mission from GOD!" |
