July 17, 2004 Hi All, Just as I thought things might relax a little with the arrival of summer, things just continue to be crazy. I am sorry to hear of the closing of MEOW MIX. As you may have heard, there was a flood and apparently the landlord wants in on the skyrocketing rents that are happening all over the L.E.S. So another great live venue is closing. That is all the more reason to get out and support your favorite local bands and clubs. On another sad note, Arthur Kane, bass player of the GREAT NYC band - THE NEW YORK DOLLS - recently passed away. The DOLLS were NYC rock'n'roll at its best! It was great that he was able to enjoy a final moment in the spotlite at the reunion of the DOLLS in London. There are some good pictures on BOB GRUEN's website of that final show, For those of you who don't know him, Bob is the photographical historian of the NYC rock'n'roll scene over the years. You've all seen his work, you probably don't know it. Go to his site and catch up on some history. Check the photo gallery on this site in the next few days and you'll find some pictures of the NYC rock'n'roll weekend at John Law's house up in the mountains last weekend, and a newspaper review of it from an upstate newspaper. It was a WILD weekend ! If anyone has any pics of the MERMAID PARADE please send them to me and I'll have LUNDO put them on the site and credit you. Thank You. ***** HELP WANTED ***** I need an assistant to help out with the computer stuff and also with the video taping and also at the clubs. The pay isn't that great but the percs are real good. Contact me if you're interested. Here's what we have coming up: SUNDAY, JULY 18 WEDNESDAY, JULY 21 FRIDAY, JULY 23 SATURDAY, JULY 24 SUNDAY, JULY 25 MONDAY, JULY 26 THURSDAY, JULY 29 Starting in AUGUST, I will be doing shows in Williamsburg, Brooklyn at the GRAND CENTRAL BAR at 659 GRAND ST., between Manhattan Ave. & Leonard St. There will be 4 bands every Thurs. with NO COVER and a smoking yard where you can bring your beer and still hear the music. Hope you come check it out. That's it for now. Hope to see you soon. Take care, WOOD "Then HE commended mirth, because a man hath no better thing
under the sun, than to eat, and to drink, and to be merry: for that shall
abide with him of his labor the days of his life, which GOD giveth him
under the sun." "We're on a mission from GOD!" |
